Celebrex
Celebrex is a COX-2 non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that was approved by the FDA for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis in December of 1998. The sales of Celebrex have reached the $1 billion dollar plateau within its first year of marketing. This drug is co-marketed by Pharmacia which owns Searle and Pfizer, Inc.
Recent Studies have linked Vioxx and Bextra, both of which are also COX-2 non-steroidal anti-inflamatory's (NSAID), to causing heart attacks and strokes. A recent Canandian news report has now linked Celebrex to cardiovascular side effects.
