Denture Cream
Zinc is an ingredient in several popular denture cream brands, including Poligrip and Fixodent. Recent medical reports are revealing that excessive exposure to zinc in denture creams have resulted in hyperzincemia (zinc poisoning) which may lead to more serious and permanently disabling injuries including neuropathy.
Symptoms of neuropathy Include:
- Weakness and/or pain in the extremities
- Numbness or tingling in the extremities
- Loss of cognitive function
- Problems with speech or swallowing
- Bowel and urinary problems
- Decreased balance and coordination
A number of lawsuits have already been filed against GlaxoSmithKline (manufacturer of PoliGrip) and Proctor & Gamble (manufacturer of Fixodent) on behalf of consumers nationwide who have suffered from zinc poisoning and neuropathy due to denture cream use.
